The PhB Grant aims to support professional artists in their career transition retraining.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: 30 April 2025
This grant is meant for professional dancers who have had an international career and who don’t qualify for support from any one of the countries where they have danced.
GRANT AMOUNT: Up to € 5000 is available each year.
REVIEW 2024 and OUTLOOK 2025
The year 2025 begins with high demand for our programmes – proof of how important and relevant the topic of career development remains for performing artists. We were once again able to make a valuable contribution last year with three career development workshops for Ballett Zürich, Theater St. Gallen and Ballett Theater Basel, particularly due to the change of directors in the dance sector. A total of 60 dancers took part and showed a willingness to actively shape their professional future.
Our work always takes place in an international context, because dance knows no language barriers. A particular highlight last year was the 50th anniversary of our partner organisation DCD (Dancers Career Development) in England, with which we are closely connected via the IOTPD (International Organisation for the Transition of Professional Dancers). As part of our international collaboration, we were also able to organise a seminar for the European Association of Independent Performing Arts and thus provide new impetus.

At national level, the focus was also on exchange: together with the BIZ of the Canton of Bern, we established a cooperation and organised an exchange meeting with Danse Suisse and Danse Transition. Raising awareness in the training of dance students at the ZHdK remains an important task in order to be prepared early on for the challenges and opportunities that the transition after a stage career entails.
We are particularly pleased about the launch of our SSUDK CONNECT- Ambassadors program, which offers an innovative way to involve former dancers and promote knowledge transfer. Looking ahead to 2025, our 9th year of the Transition Centre, we look forward to developing and sharing new formats and offers with you.

Herzlich laden wir Sie zu unserem „Speed-Dating“ Workshop und Vortrag am 11. November 2017 um 14 Uhr in der Dampfzentrale in Bern ein (siehe Flyer).
Wegen der grossen Nachfrage bieten wir erneut den „Speed-Dating“ Trasition-Workshop an. Dabei berichten ehemalige Tänzer*innen, die in einem neuen Beruf stehen, über ihre Erfahrungen und Netzwerke. Die Teilnehmer*innen können von einem individuellen Beratungsgespräch profitieren.
Im Anschluss findet um 17 Uhr der Vortrag zum Thema „Health and Training” von Dr. Andrea Schärli sowie eine Diskussionsrunde statt.
Am selben Abend können Sie um 20 Uhr die Schlussvorstellung vom Festival Tanz in Bern “to a simple rock’n’roll…song” von Michael Clark Company (UK) besuchen (Tickets via starticket.ch).

Das IOTPD Philippe Braunschweig Stipendium zu Ehren des Gründers Philippe Braunschweig richtet sich jährlich an professionelle Tänzer*innen, die eine internationale Karriere vorweisen können, aber in keinem der Länder, in denen sie/er getanzt haben, ein Anrecht auf Transition-Unterstützung erworben haben. Man sollte sich nur für das IOTPD-Stipendium bewerben, wenn man durch keine der Mitgliedsorganisationen unterstützt wird. Die SSUDK ist Mitglied der IOTPD.
